With Sympathy # 2

Ok, not sure if this rooster could classify as a sympathy card, but I thought I would give it a try!

I used the cracked glass technique on this rooster (I thought I would hate it, but I keep using it! Damn!) and have had it sitting around for a couple of weeks not sure what to do with it...I know what you are all thinking - she's made another rooster card, and check out the colours - Chocolate Chip and Summer Sun - AGAIN! I can't move on from these colours with this stamp! I am hooked!

And here is the card... what do you all think? Could this pass for a sympathy card?
On a non-stamping note, I am sporting all kind of injuries at present - I have a huge bruise on my shin (not sure where from), a slightly bruised eye (football injury from a 3yr old's foot collecting my face) and sore ribs (somehow playing with balloons turned into wrestling and a jump on my ribs...). I tell you, I cant wait for this kid to go back to school! hahaha

I was asked to make a couple of sympathy cards for a friend, and this is one I made so far. I was rushed in the end and kind of smudged the greeting, so wasnt very happy about that, so will have to make sure the other cards I made are better

I have so many cards to make that I actually have a list of names of everyone who I need to make a card for, so I dont forget!

I know this one is a retired stamp, but I love it so much, and I had to make a thank you card for a relative who has been a great help to me recently, and wanted to use an extra special image for her. Again, I have used a flower, ribbon and button which are not SU products, but matched well for me.

I made this card as a hello card for my Nana and Pa in Hervey Bay. Since we have moved, I have missed them so much, so wanted to send a card to say hi! I have used Ruby Red, Chocolate Chip & Summer Sun, with Baroque Motifs and Upsy Daisy stamps. The flower and button are from Lincraft.

ha, by about a week! lol

I was on a roll with posting, then I slack off again! Terrible!

Today was the first time I have been able to sit down at my stamping table and make something, and although I have a million cards to make, I just havent had any luck with time or energy! But today I just decided to pull my finger out and get to it!

I made these cards to thank some of my dear friends who helped me out over the last couple of months, and just wanted to show them how much I appreciate them in my life. And of course, everytime the camera comes out, the poser AKA Will comes over for a photo too. Don't be fooled, I had to pose for 4 'silly' photos before we managed this nice one! hahaha

Grandma's Birthday

Hopefully the last birthday card for a while... this one is for Grant's Grandma who also had her birthday the other week. I used some DSP, and watercoloured the rose from Fifth Avenue Floral using Regal Rose and Rose Red. Also on there is Riding Hood Red and Kiwi Kiss.

Hi all,

I have a few birthday cards to post over the next few days, so you will have to excuse the generic theme over the next few days!

Today I will start with Sophie's card. Sophie is Grant's lovely cousin who turns 18 and is having her birthday party this weekend. We are going along, to her place in the middle of the bush and will most probably freeze our little behinds off, but for Soph, it will all be worth it. As my husband says - a little more alcohol will warm your heart...!The card is very self-explanitory, so I wont bother. Nice and simple.

Back, with another summer sun card, using the Good Morning Sunshine DSP again. This one isnt totally Stampin' Up!, but I know you will understand! This card was CASEd from Dawn Easton but again slightly modified.You probably cant see very well, but there is glitter on the stamped flowers, and a brown brad in the centre of the paper flowers.

Summer Rooster

Howdy ho everyone! Back with another card ( I know, how impressive has my regular blogging been lately!?!?!? ) and this time, I used the Rustic Rooster with Summer Sun! I must say, I quite like how it turned out, and so did Hubby, which was a bonus!

So on to the card, I used Good Morning Sunchine DSP with wide chocolate chip ribbon, and a latte button. I saw a similar design from Lauren Meader in the US on her blog, and altered it slightly and changed colours, stamps, papers, etc.

So what do you think? Am I officially forgiven for being a bad blogger????

A masculine card for my brother

Hi everyone, I am back today with a card I made for my younger brother.

He is currently in his second last year at boarding school, and growing into such a young man, right before my eyes! He has a nice girlfriend, and is playing Rugby and Cricket and hopefully getting some time to study hard!

With only a year and a half left to go of his schooling, and some big decisions to be made for his future, I wanted to send him a card, reminding him to dream big, because anything is possible if you put your mind to it.

We are all travelling to Fiji at the end of next year for his schoolies celebrations (my mum, older brother, younger brother, maybe his girlfriend, and the 3 of us) so I thought the boat image from Seaworthy worked well.

I also used Baja Breeze - my new fav colour - and a button from the Button Bouquet pack, and Urban Oasis DSP.

I made this card last night for someone I used to be close to in my childhood, but havent seen in, I think, 10 years. She was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent surgery a couple of weeks ago.

I dropped by her place last week but she wasnt home, so I made this card for her, to let her know that she will always have my support if she needs it.

I am lucky to have a fantastic upline, Karen Robinson, who spoils me and is very supportive of me and my SU Business. We dont live in the same area anymore, and only really get to see each other at Convention, but we are still great friends and love any chance to catch up. I recently received a parcel in the mail with some goodies in there for my birthday this year. First, I received this gorgeous card, which features the shavign cream technique And here is my birthday gift from her. Isnt she a treasure! A pack from the Body Shop, a book mark, a magic handtowel with my name on it and a little handbag (just gorgeous!) with choccies!
Then another card featuring the Cracked Glass Technique...

I know its late, but that seems like the only excuse I have these days! I would have thought I would have all the time in the world now that I have finished work, but I have not stopped travelling, doing my craft and spending time with my family since!

In saying that, I am also organising removals, cleaning the house constantly for open inspections, and trying to keep the little man in as much of a routine as possible!

In saying that, we are staying in Brisbane for a week, to spend some time with hubby, before heading back home to pack up the house and move again!

So with all that said, you wont be seeing ANY creations for me for quite some time, at least until I am set up at our new place!

I will also cut the challenges for now, but please keep checking back every now and then - I will still update every now and again.

Well, you knew it would be the first challenge back, that I were to choose this gorgeous pic for the inspiration!

This was taken in Canberra while was there for Convention. I swear that the locals would have thought we were MAD tourists, taking photos of treese all the time! But they were so gorgeous, and something I dont see where I live, so I took full advantage!

Anyway, onto the inspiration... Colours to use are: More Mustard, Ruby Red, Garden Green / Old Olive, Chocolate Chip and a Neutral of your choice.

I'M BACK!

Convention was great - I loved spending a weekend with ladies who were as addicted to stamping as much as I was! We swapped, shared ideas, indulged in fine foods, stayed uo late talking and of course, were inspired by every last bit of the event itself!

How cold was it???? This is a photo of my poor hand, wrapped up warmly in my gloves, which until the last mihnute, I wasn't going to even take with me! Brrrr, it was COLD! Now most people who know me, and where I have lived for the past few years, I do not mix well with the cold, so it seemed like I whinged and whinged and whinged! But I made it through the freezing weekend to return home to rainy weather and my lovely warm house! Now, I want to show you this photo - not the best (my camera was playing up!) but I love it all the same! This is me and my 3 roomies - Karen, Julie and Leah. We spent a great few days together, and I was sad to see them go! I am looking forward to seeing Julie and Leah more often when we move shortly, and hopefully Karen can organise a get together for her downline in the future, so its not so long between visits!

Anyway, I will be back with more photos, but as I am home alone for a few days (yes, you heard correctly, HOME ALONE!) I thought I would take as much opportunity to stamp stamp stamp! This will only last til Wednesday!

Saturday Spotlight - Washington Apple DSP

Good morning everyone!

For this week's Saturday Spotlight, I am featuring the Washington Apple DSP, but one one sheet at the moment! I got a bit carried away and actually forgot there were other designs in the pack!

On my first look through the new 09/10 Ideas Book & Catalogue, this is the DSP that jumped out at me. Meet Washington Apple - my new favourite DSP!

Here are a few ideas I have come up with to share with you...

Here I have some 3x3" cards. I started with a Cocoa base, and layered Riding Hood Red and the DSP on top. I have then simplypierced holes around the edges.

Next up is the little hedgehog from Fun & Fast Notes! I've stamped him in black onto Confetti White CS, and used my Earth Elements markers and blender pens to colour him in. I sponged Riding Hood Red around the edges and layered onto coordinating CS. I used the same colour ink pad to stamp the Friendly wheel along the top and glued the DSP on the bottom. I then used Dimensionals to hold the hedgehog in place and pierced along the bottom edge.

Here's a new set for you - Greetings Eight! This card uses the cake which I have watercoloured using ink pads and blender pens, then layered onto Bashful Blue CS. The background is Pumpkin Pie. I used the DSP to layer onto Bashful Blue then Riding Hood Red CS and adhered it on the side. I then used my dimensionals to put the cake into place, and pierced around the right hand side.

Wow, thats only using 1/2 of one piece of DSP sheet! Got plenty more to go, so will have to get creating! Tune in next Saturday for another Saturday Spotlight!

Here is my example: I have CASEd the card from P21 of the new IB&C, used pretty much the same colours, but used a different flower from the Echoes of Kindness set, and stamped the greeting and mounted it a bit differently. I just loved this card. It is the first thing that really jumped out at me! I couldnt wait to try it out.

Good evening everyone!

Well, its true - I am officially a HUGE fan of the Biggest Loser. I have never taken a liking to anything even remotely related to exercise (I have a great metabolism which allows me to not exercise at all, eat total rubbish at this current stage in my life, and not gain weight!), but seeing as there are 2 Hervey Bay brothers competing this year, I started watching it. Not only am I obsessed, but my hubby and 3 year old son are also totally into it. In fact, my son even does his own version of each exercise that the contestants do!

So you can imagine our surprise when we ran into Nathan at the grocery store the other week, with his fiance (now wife!), and found out that Andrew (his brother) actually works in the same building as me! Wow, it certainly is a small world!

I didnt immediately recognise Nathan at the shops, because he has lost SO MUCH weight! Obviously the Commando is whipping him into shape on Fitzroy Island! I have seen Andrew since the show finished filming, around the building, and he looks great. It is great to see the two boys so happy now. I got a big wave from Andrew this afternoon in fact. Feels like I know the boys inside out, seeing as I watch them on telly. I have to remember not to go up and make a complete fool of myself - just because I 'know' them, doesnt mean they know who the hell I am! roflol

Anyway, I best get back to the actual post, and for those of you who are actually still reading, thanks for letting me get my little story out!

Well, I FINALLY finished it (not that it was hard... all I had to do was find a suitable photo!) and I reckon this photo matches well! I cant wait to see what we make at Convention this year. I am also super excited to be room-sharing with 3 gorgeous ladies, and looking forward to meeting some other bloggers who inspire me so much! Morning everyone. Ok, Ok, I know. I am a terrible blogger. Not only did I promise I would be back with this week's challenge LAST THURSDAY, I havent blogged at all since then! Terrible! Please forgive me!

I have 2 cards to show you today, using the Bali Breeze DSP which retires as of 31st March 2009. I loved this paper the most, I think, but in the end, didnt use it on many projects at all! I still have some scraps lying around, so I will definately use them up sooner or later!

AWOL again!

Hi everyone,

I know I have been a slack blogger, but I am trying to get back on top of things. And to make the first effort, I am posting a longer than usual entry, of a few things I have been working on, as well as a photo for you!

First up is this photo of a KaiserCraft Memo Board I decorated. Sorry the photo is terrible, but I tried my best! I just love it! The paper I used to decorate it is a retired DSP from Stampin' Up!'s range. It had been sitting around for ages, and I didnt know what I would ever use it for, but I was happy with how this turned out!

Next up is that photo I mentioned. This is Will 'mowing the lawn' at his cousin's house. His uncle Jason mows the grass there with the earmuffs on, so he thought he would, too! So cute!
Here is a RAK that my wonderful friend Keesh sent me a little while ago. Thats how slack I have been - I have had this card photographed for about a month now, I think, and I am only just posting it now! Sorry Keesh!

This one is some 'tile stampin' using the Bold Butterfly which (sniff sniff) is retiring at the end of this month. I will really miss this set!

And lastly for this post, is a sketch challenge from a while back, using the Seaside stamp set. I really like this card IRL, but this photo doesnt do much for me!

Morning all my little lovelies!

My challenge to you all this week, should be nice and fun, as well as easy!

With the release of Stampin' Up!'s retiring list for Australia, I thought we could create a card with our favourite items which are on the retiring list. You dont have to use ONLY retiring items, just some stamps, DSP, accessories - whatever you choose.

Here is my example for you all:

I was so lucky the other week to receive this card from my good friend, Leah! She was congratulating me on my new job and wishing me luck!

I met Leah at Convention last year, only on the last night! We sat at the same table as she and a couple of her friends, and we all hit it off! So together, our most of the people on our table that night have since been involved in each others swaps and challenges - its been great! Now, I am looking forward to sharing a room with Leah & Julie, along with my Upline Karen!

Thanks so much for the card, Leah! It made my week, thats for sure!

This one is of a Lorikeet in the tree at the beach. We were able to get really close to get a nice photo of them!This photo is actually of the house which is MY 'dream home'. Yes, that is a phone booth in the garden... It is on the water, so such a gorgeous home!
And this is me and my Googy at the beach. I hope he never gets sick of his nickname, but I dare say it will happen eventually!

Some New challenges

After a couple of weeks of not having enough time, I got to play along in Keesh's challenge for this week! And it was a colour challenge, to use Regal Rose, Rose Red, Sage Shadow and Whisper White. I personally think this card is a bit 'in-ya-face' but I really wanted to use the Wild about You and the Paisley background stamp. Here is Keesh's blog (http://makeeshabyl.com.au). The sketch I worked with is from Taylored Expressions (http://tayloredexpressions.blogspot.com) and is challenge #53

My first Hervey Bay workshop!

I had my first workshop on Sunday with a lovely group of girls (hi ladies!) here in Hervey Bay, and here are the cards we made!

This first one is a CASE from the Summer Mini. The original card was a aquare card, but I made it the usual A5 size.

Inks: Chocolate Chip, River Rock
Stamps: Embrace Life
Other: Corner Rounder, Blender Pens, Ginger Blossom DSP, Button, Cord

And the second card we made uses the Ocean Commotion set!

Stamps: Ocean Commotion, Short & Sweet

I think the ladies had a great time making these! Cant wait to see them again for the next workshop!

Just to prove to you that I HAVE been busy, here are a few of the items I have been working on!

I went to the $2 dollar shops around, and purchased some cheap notebooks which I then decorated with DSP and ribbons! You can also see in there, a matching card.

This one is using paper from the Ginger Blossom DSP in the Summer MiniThis one uses papers from the Afternoon Tea DSP (also in the Summer Mini)
And this one uses paper from the Outlaw DSP pack

This one should be a pretty easy one for you all...

I want you to create a card or scrapbook page using a One-Sheet Wonder. Please use only Stampin' Up! products!

Here is my example:

I made a sheet of the images from Embrace Life using Certainly Celery, Blush Blossom and Pale Plum inks, then tore the edges on the White and Blush Blossom CS and some of the DSP from Bali BreezeI tied some Certainly Celery grosgrain ribbon around it, cut out the flower and stuck it on using Dimensionals, then stamped the greeting on the Perfect Plum CS

Criss Cross card

Morning my stamping friends!

Today I have a Criss-Cross card to share with you all!

I know the papers have retired, but I am hoping they will make a reappearance in the next catalogue! Fingers crossed!

Ok, I have only tried these cards a couple of times, and I think that I always made a mistake or something, because for some reason, I didnt like the others, but was really happy with how this one turned out!

Now, here is a view of the outside, as well as the insert.

The only Non-SU product was the staple holding the tab in place.

CS: Real Red, Old Olive, Bashful Blue, Apple Cider DSP (I think that's what it was called!)

Technique Tuesday is back!

Here I am, back with Technique Tuesday! And this one is a fun and cute one!

Jumbo Paperclips!

The idea of the Jumbo paperclips has been around a while now, but I have only just be able to source the actual paperclips recently, so here is my tutorial for you all!

Supplies:

Punches: Scallop, 1-3/8" Circle, 1-1/4" Circle
Stamps: Tart & Tangy
CS: Real Red, Bashful Blue, Apple Cider DSP (I think thats what it was called. It is now retired)
Other: Jumbo paperclips (102mm), 2-way glue, snail adhesive, stampin' glitter, 3-D Dots

Step 1:

Punch out 2 scallops, 2 of the larger circle, and 2 smaller circles

Step 2:

Dot 2-way glue onto the cherries, and dip into stampin' glitter. Flick your finger on the back of the circle to remove excess glitter, and leave to dry. Here are the two cherry circles with the glitter
Step 3:
Mount the smaller circle onto the larger one, then onto the scallop. Repeat with other pieces
Step 4:
Add a 3-D Glue Dot to the back of the scallops, remembering to line the cherries up so that they will be facing the correct way

Step 5:
Push the end of the paperclip into the 3-D Dot, pressing hard. Repeat with other scallop, on otherside of paperclip

Scrapping Sunday!

I have been busy with a few projects so far this year, and one has been scrapbooking! My only issue is that not all of my products are Stampin' Up!, so please excuse me, there!

Anyway, first off is a page of Will, using a SB page from my local craft store, along with a background of Really Rust, and a tag which reads "100% Pure BOY", which I thought was so fitting! I popped the tag up with Dimensionals.

And the 2nd page I have to show you is also with a store bought background paper. The photos are matted with Sage Shadow and Pumpkin Pie CS. You might not be able to see, but the Sage Shadow CS has been 'wiped' with my Ballet Blue ink pad, as well as my Whisper White ink pad for effect. I used 2 flowers punched from my 5-petal punch, and 'dashed' them with my black marker, then coloured and used Crystal Effects on my flowers in the middle.

I hope you enjoyed my creations for today!

Where have I been???

I know I have been absent from my blog lately, and sadly I dont have any creations to show you at the moment, but I do have some photos to show you what I have been up to.

First is a card that my dear friend Nicki made for Will's birthday. Isnt it gorgeous!?!? Next up is a photo I took on Friday on our way to my mums house. If you click on the photo to enlarge it, the centre of the cloud, you can see it is darker to the ground. It is raining! I think its amazing, the weather and all it produces!
And over the weekend, we were in Brisbane celebrating my cousin's engagement / farewell! It was a great night, even though I did have a very sore head and tummy the next day! No more tequila shots for little Melissa, let me tell you!
Anyway, here is a photo of the gorgeous cake they had there. It is covered in white chocolate... so yummy!

And here's a close up! How cute is this cake??? I think I may have to use it as a colour challenge some time next year!

Another good thing that happened... I went for a job interview today and got the job! I am so excited. I start next month! Woohoo!

Anyway, thats it for me today. I will hopefully be back tomorrow with some creations for you all!

Will's 3rd Birthday

It was my little man's birthday last week (thanks to all who expressed well wishes!) and I thought I would share a couple of photos from the day...

First up is the cake we got for him. He was very impressed with the candle, and even when we had left over cake for a snack the next day, he wanted to re-light the candle! So funny.

And this is his present from us. We spend most of the night before putting it all together, plus a bit of time in the morning, moving it from the garage to outside! He loves is, though, so it was worth the sweat, swearing and stress! We really need to get some trees in our backyard though, because he cant use it until late late late in the afternoon when the sun has gone down!

I thought I would still show you the invites I made up, though.I used the Ahoy Matey stamp set, Matey's Map wheel and the Outlaw DSP, which went really well together. The map was scrunched up, inked with a sponge all over, and pushed into the pocket, then rolled the top like a scroll.
This is the invitation open. I was going to add the details of the party to the back of the map.

Now, as it is Will's birthday today, I want to wish him a fantastic 3rd birthday, and to enjoy his day!

First up was a practice for a swap I held, to use Summer Sun and a background stamp. This one didnt make the cut.

Second, is a card I made, which is pretty non-traditional when it comes to Christmas! I just purchased the Natural Beauty stamp set, and wanted to play. It somehow ended up being a Christmas card... what do you think?

Here is a photo of Will and the fish that his dad caught yesterday morning. He thought it was great, until it started flipping and flapping all around! It settled after a few seconds and we took this picture before we had to throw the slimy thing back into the ocean! Will thought it was great!
